Birthday Ideas

I writing this in hopes that I can get ideas from people I love and admire, meaning you who are reading this, as to what I can do for my birthday that is coming up. I normally don't make a big deal about this day but I have expectations that usually don't get met. I admit this is my fault so I have decided to make a change. I am going to make a big deal about my birthday. By big I don't mean expensive, but I want to have fun and enjoy turning 33. (As I choke that number out) Can't fight age, so I might as well enjoy it. So if any of you have any ideas I would appreciate any help. It can't be too expensive. I believe I have already told you that I am cheap. But I might be able to force myself to splurge a little bit.

I know this is not what you are looking for, but here goes. On my 33rd birthday (March 31, 1977) I knew that it wasn't going to be a great day. So I prayed in the morning that I could give service to someone. About 11:00 I was taking a bike ride over by the school one the base and there was and adorable, distraught little girl. She was crying, her dog had followed her to school and her teacher let her go so that she could take the dog home. She couldn't catch the dog and when she saw me (we didn't know each other), she asked if I would help her. I caught the dog, he was a mid sized dog, so I put him on my lap (?) and peddled him home. He went up and down with my legs as I was peddling him and it was very awkward. When we got to her home there was the cutest mother in the world. They turned out to be the Kimberly, (the girl) and Loye (the Mom) Hunsaker. Loye and I have never been in the same ward, but we are great friends, and her husband was our Stake President before this new one that Glenn is in. This may be the longest comment in history, I think I will make a blog on it. Lea Ann, this was one of my most memorable birthdays, who knew!

Hey LeaAnn Found your blog from MIchelles. one thought comes to mind. WHen Michael and I were dating I surprised him and we went to The Hyatt Regency to have dinner and when you have dinner there you get 2 free tickets for a gondola ride. SO we ate then walked around the beautiful hotel and then had the gondola ride. Not too expensive and a nice date to enjoy yourself. :) I think dinner was probably $30 here is some info..
Alto ristorante e bar
Cross over the bridge and through a courtyard to find the vibrant, convivial setting of Alto ristorante e bar. This comfortable Italian restaurant offers fresh and flavorful dishes with an emphasis on “the season.” Alto features its unique Formaggio & Salumi Cellar, a collection of Italy’s best artisanal cheeses and meats. An extensive selection of wines from around the world, with an emphasis on Italy, is cradled on two wine walls. Dinner is served both indoors and alfresco nestled around terrace fire pits, creating a very inviting atmosphere. Top off your evening with a gondola ride along the resort's waterways, complete with singing gondoliers.

I was thinking like lunch with all your girlfriends. Or a dinner party with couples and games. Not to my scale, but smaller, with dinner.

I turned 33 yesterday. I got to go on a trip a week ago for the holiday weekend - that was my "gift." But yesterday my daughters made me a restaurant in the back yard. It was so sweet - they spent all afternoon picking up the yard, making menus, setting the table with a candle and goblets. I had chicken nuggets, yogurt, oranges, carrots, chips, and apple cider. Then we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores. Probably one of my best birthday dinners ever. It doesn't have to be over the top!
